Day 1 & 2: Amsterdam, Netherlands
Embark 18.00 hrs - Tuesday 30 July 2019
Everyone has an image of Amsterdam. For some, it’s small boats gliding on the canals and locals two-wheeling on bikes to and from work and, as frequently, to meet friends for drinks. For others, it’s gabled buildings leaning, seemingly precariously, over cobbled streets and cozy taverns illuminated by candles. Still others imagine tulips in bloom and the colors, both muted and vibrant, of the paintings Vermeer, Van Gogh and Rembrandt. All images are true and even more beguiling when experienced in person. Sit a spell in a convivial cafe, explore world-class museums and feel the significance of a unique history—one of a city reclaimed from the sea, rising in prestige and influence as merchants built trade and wealth, and forever known for its attics and attitudes that offered refuge from war. Narrow streets and great manses tell the story not only in images but with the aroma of appeltaart, a taste of the avant garde in newly constructed buildings and a feeling of warmth from the amiable locals.

Day 3: Zeebrugge, Belgium
Belgium is a patchwork of small farms, picturesque rivers and natural lakes. It is dotted with ancient cathedrals and wonderful museums with awe-inspiring art.

Zeebrugge, a small town located on the western side of Belgium, dates back to the beginning of the Christian calendar. A crossroad in the English Channel for centuries, Zeebrugges is the gateway to Flanders, whose Golden Age heritage resides in three historic cities: Ghent, Antwerp and Bruges. In this region, museums proudly display the glories of the old Flemish masters, from Van Dyck to Rubens. The summertime is a delight showcasing colorful flower-filled window boxes and the graceful arcs of windmills.

Day 4 & 5: Honfleur, France
Discover Deauville, the seaside resort that is both posh and quaint with its celebrity and royal pedigree and photogenic half-timbered Norman buildings. Added cachet comes from the city’s renowned racetrack and horse breeding—a French version of Lexington, Kentucky. Also marvel at the bare vertical cliffs of Etretat and Yport, natural wonders that inspired artists Boudin, Courbet and Monet. Gain insights into the epic battle launched June 6, 1944, with a tour of the D-Day beaches. See Pointe du Hoc, the 100-foot-high promontory where German forces deployed concrete bunkers and gun pits to keep the Allies at bay. After scaling the cliffs, the U.S. Army Ranger Assault Group captured this. The beauty goes on in this stretch of the Calvados region, rich with the history of William the Conqueror and scenic with its countryside landscapes, the source of Calvados apple brandy.

Day 6: Guernsey/St. Peter Port, Channel Islands
Charming Guernsey, a mere 25 square miles in size, offers a host of enticing visitor attractions. Although geographically closer to France, it has remained staunchly British through the ages. Today, its diverse culture reflects the best of both worlds. Pastel-colored houses rise layer upon layer behind St. Peter Port, the island's picturesque main town. Beyond, you discover a wealth of activities centering around goldsmiths, silversmiths, wood carvers and clockmakers. Important: Please Read before Booking the Following Tours: Although the best available equipment has been requested, guests should be aware that transport may not be of international standard. Motor coaches are not air-conditioned. Your understanding is appreciated. Guernsey Island Introduction and Goldsmith's Workshop

Bordeaux was at one time France's richest community and largest port. It is second only to Paris as the country's most densely populated city.Today it is best-known for its glorious châteaux, mouth-watering cuisine and incomparable wines. It is surrounded by the world's most famous vineyards including Médoc, St-Emilion, Pomerol, Graves and Sauternes.

Crystal's sojourn in this world-renowned wine capital is bound to please even the most discerning bon vivant.

Day 11: Le Verdon, France
A contrast to the lush countryside found inland, the Atlantic coast offers its own kind of beauty with its crashing waves, long stretches of beach and conifer forests. Resort towns dot the coastline, bringing their additional charms to the region. One such place is Le Verdon, sitting at the most northerly point of the Médoc. In its harbor stands the oldest lighthouse in France, the Cordouan lighthouse, which boasts a petite chapel and royal chamber. A short distance from Le Verdon is the seaside resort of Soulac, the "Pearl of the Silver Coast." The nearly 500 neo-colonial villas built here give Soulac a unique air of history and sophistication. Its morning market, pedestrian-friendly streets and seaside shops and cafes give the village a sense of joie de vivre.

Day 12: St-Jean-de-Luz, France
This fishing port on the Basque coast is a gem, sparkling with old-world charm. Venture into the town center and you'll feel like you've stepped back into the Middle Ages, as historic Basque and its Moorish architecture presides over narrow, cobblestone lanes. There's plenty to explore, from the lively bars and restaurants in the main square to the casino and sophisticated shops that give the town a more modern touch. It's also home to the Church of St. John, where Louis XIV married Marie Thérèse of Spain. Incidentally, it was at that wedding that the legendary pastry chef Adam delighted guests with Basque macarons, a heartier cousin to the traditional French macaron; a visit to Saint Jean-de-Luz would not be complete without sampling this tasty confection.

Day 13: Bilbao, Spain
Home of the newly-erected Guggenheim Museum, this bustling city epitomizes the merger of modernity and history. The gateway to the Cantabrico Sea from the plateau of Castilla, Bilbao has flourished from the middle ages as a busy port, and a major exporter of the metals found in surrounding areas. Today, the city flourishes with a vital exuberance, as modern architects erect new buildings next to 19th-century structures.

Day 15 & 16: Lisbon, Portugal
Disembark Monday 12 August 2019
Cosmopolitan Lisbon was the center of the world's last great colonial empire. Today the city nostalgically reveres its imperial past while adapting to Portugal's role as a member of the European Economic Community. Although located on the Atlantic coast, Lisbon has the soul of a Mediterranean city with Moorish castles, pastel and white buildings, orange-tiled roofs and luminous blue skies.
